FAQ

Charging and battery questions

How fast is a 7 kW home charger?

About 30 miles of range per hour. A typical car goes from 20% to 80% overnight on a 6-hour off-peak window.

Does my home need a new supply?

Rarely. Most homes take a 7 kW charger on the existing supply. We fit a load sensor so the charger slows down when the oven and shower are on.

How big a battery do I need?

Most homes use 6 to 10 kWh between 4 pm and midnight. A 10 kWh battery covers that for a family, or about 9 hours of backup for essentials.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar?

Yes. We fit a battery with its own inverter, so it works with any panel system. Installation takes half a day.

What does charging cost on an off-peak tariff?

At a night rate of 10 cents per kWh, a car that does 3.5 miles per kWh costs about 3 cents a mile to charge.

Do you install for landlords and workplaces?

Yes. We fit shared chargers with driver billing for apartment blocks, offices, and small fleets of 2 to 20 vehicles.
